A Morning in the Life: Choir Kid

5a.m: Warm- Up
E, Eh, Ah, Oh, OOO in a cycle of five rounds until the voice is nice and warm. Maybe add some sirens in there for pleasure.

5:05a.m: Shower and Practice
Blast the All-State Music on the boom box next to the sink while showering. Dangerous? Not at the cost of making the All-State choir.

5:45a.m: Open the Sinuses
Sit in the shower while the steam is still circling in the restroom to open the sinuses, should be able to hit a high C at this point.

6a.m: Breakfast
Put some water in the kettle for hot decaffinated tea. Must keep the vocal chords hydrated. Ew. No cheese, no milk, no sodas. That would be a sin.

6:45a.m: Leaving the House
Okay I have my choir binder, sight reading book, school materials but honestly who really needs them.. Car keys, extra tea, and OH! I can't forget my scarf. I don't care if it's 80 degrees outside my voice will stay nice and warm.

7:10a.m: Getting to School
Why do I have to walk across the street? That's just a recepie for disaster. Okay, I made it without getting ran over. "Morning Mr.Bell!". Good thing I don't smoke like that kid who just got caught.. I have a full 15 years ahead of me, and I don't want the smoke to decrease my years on stage.

7:15a.m: Choir Room
"Gooooodmooorning" Oh Glo, why are you so happy in the morning? I'm just here to get the gold. I mean the All-State CD. I have to get 1st chair, that is the only thing I need in life. That will make my life. Motzart, Brahms, Tehmming. I have to engrave all their creations in my heart.

8:15a.m: Sightreading
A good hour of practice to start my day at school, not bad. I could do some more, but sightreading school is in session. Do-Mi-So-Mi-Do-So-Do. 20% of my audition depends on these insignificant syllables, so might as well take advantage of the time i have.

8:25a.m: Tutoring
So I only have 30 minutes to do my homework cause when I get home all I will do is practice some more.

Serpent Lamb: Who I Truly Am.

Quadrant 3, half serpent, and half lamb. What does this mean? That is who I am. You can discover who you are just as I did.

Close your eyes and think to yourself what a serpent represents. What does a lamb represent? What does a lion represent? What does an angel represent? A serpent is deceiving just like in Adam and Eve. A lamb is innocent and not harmful. A lion is ruthless, doing harm to anything that comes in its way. An angel is as honest as the sun on a hot summer day. How do you decide who you truly are? It's easy!

Answer these questions, but don't let my answers influence your decision.

1.) What is the least important situation you would lie in?
ex. Would you lie about not getting a lollipop in order to get another one?
 Be honest with your self.

The conclusion that I came to is that I lie in order to make situations easier to deal with. The lowest I've ever gone is at work. I'm a hostess/ server and sometimes in order to get my sales up or to make customers happy I tend to lie. It's not a very dire situation, however; I do it anyway. As long as I'm not doing an incredible damage on the person im lieing to, I am willing to lie.

2.) What is the least important situation that you would be willing to kill for?
ex. Would you be willing to kill someone because they cut you off in the freeway?
Again, be honest. Nobody except yourself will know.

Personally, I believe that another person's life is not mine to take. That's God's decision to execute, but if there was to be a situation where it was in my hands to save an innocent life I would kill for that person. I wouldn't kill for any other situation than that to be a hero.

3.) I will need you to close your eyes. Imagine the most horrific torture in the world. Would you be able to do that to another person?
ex. Strapping someone to a stretch table and stretching him to death.
Don't fool yourself. Would you be capable to be the most evil person on earth? Remember, nobody is judging you; you are the only one who knows.

The most horrific thing in the world I can imagine is cutting someone's head off with a machete. Things like this do happen and are happening in the country of Mexico. I would not be able to live with myself knowing that I put someone through that type of pain. I would hear their spine crackling in my sleep. My hands would forever be tainted in blood.

Now, evaluate your answers. Do you lie more than the average person? Are you violent beyond the point of coming back? Think aboout it and be completely honest or otherwise your true self will never be reveled. Like I mentioned at the begining of this little experiment, you will be drawing a graph with four quadrants. The middle point, a.k.a: (0,0), represents the average person, but you can't be that average person. Choose a point with in this graph. Remember LION=Violent, LAMB= Harmless, SERPENT= Deceiptful, and ANGEL= Honest. The closer you are to a certain object the more your character is like theirs. You have to decide wether you are more honest than the average person or not, and if you are more violent or not than the average person. After choosing those points find their interception (the star in my own graph). Where your star lies determines who you are! Refer to my example:

I am a serpent lamb, who are you?

Turns out I am a Serpent Lamb. I am willing to lie, but I just can't physically hurt someone. The guilt I would feel afterwards is a great risk I am not willing to take. Yes, sometimes when the lie is too much to handle there are consequences that must be faced. I have learned from that mistake, so I don't lie about major things. I do lie about harmless things that I know will not have a huge consequence. When I did this experiment I was not alone. My class of 21 did the exact same thing, but we got completely different results. We later broke off into groups that were the same. It was reassuring to know that there are other people who think the same way I do. It was interesting to see that the least amount of people were Lion Angels, and the rest of the quandrants were almost equal. That gives to show that less people are willing to get physical imeadiately.

Trust me you are not alone in what ever quadrant you land. There are thousands like you in the world filling the same quadrant.
